ABOUT THE PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAM
The Bloustein School offers two graduate policy master's degrees and a graduate policy certificate. All three are designed to prepare students for careers in government, politics, and policy, with required coursework in the public policy process, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and economic analysis as well as a broad range of electives. Six dual-degree programs are also offered with the M.P.P.
The Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) is a 48-credit degree program offering advanced methods training, an applied internship, and concentrations in various policy areas. The first M.P.P. class graduated in 1999, and program alumnae/alumni have developed a strong record of achievement in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The M.P.P. program is accredited by NASPAA, which sets the global standard in public service education and is the membership organization for graduate education programs in public policy, public affairs, public administration, and public and nonprofit management.
The Bloustein School also offers the 30-credit Master of Public Affairs and Politics (M.P.A.P.) degree. This program, which has been training students in politics and public affairs since 1958, is designed for professionals who have worked in public policy or politics for at least five years.
The Graduate Certificate in Public Policy is intended for students who want to strengthen their understanding of the policy process as well as those considering enrolling in one of Bloustein's policy master's programs. Certificate students must complete four courses that cover the dynamics of public policy formation, economics, and research design, as well as an elective in their specific interest area. All certificate courses may be counted towards the MPP or MPAP degrees.
The Bloustein School faculty is world-renowned for its policy expertise. Many Bloustein faculty members focus on using policy to improve life for vulnerable groups and reduce economic inequality. As the policy program is affiliated with an urban planning program ranked in the top five nationally, the Bloustein School is an excellent place in which to study fields where urban planning and public policy intersect, such as environmental policy, housing policy, and community development. In addition to an exceptional full-time faculty, the program engages several high-ranking current and former government officials and other practitioners to teach courses. A number of faculty members in the program also hold positions with research centers--including the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, the Center for State Health Policy, and the New Jersey State Policy Lab.

M.P.P./M.S.W. (Master of Social Work) with the Rutgers School of Social Work
M.P.P./J.D. (Juris Doctor) with the Rutgers Law School.
